Check it out.
I'd have to say I'm more fond of apes than monkeys, though.

Yay
Going back to work on Monday. They never did figure out what was actually wrong with me, but it seems to have mostly cleared up on its own. I still get dizzy spells, but they're manageable, and I haven't fallen in about a week. So, yay.

Personal update
I've been in typically poor communication as of late, so I figured I'd let the handful of people who read this know what's going on.
A couple of weeks back, I woke up woozy, and just got progressively worse throughout the day. Since then, most of the yucky symptoms have faded out, but I still have bouts of extreme dizziness and a tendency to suddenly collapse with little warning and no provocation, as well as poor concentration, the odd bout of blurred vision, and worse memory problems than usual.
I've had an MRI on my head, so we've ruled out MS, aneurysm, stroke, and brain tumor—all good things to rule out—but I've got a slew of more tests coming up in the next couple of weeks. Things we're testing for include a prolapsed heart valve, inner ear issues, and an EEG to make sure signals are firing properly in my brain. I did see a physical therapist yesterday who confessed herself baffled as to what needs to happen with me, but did determine that I seem to have some compression on the carotid artery.
I'll try to keep everyone informed.

It's so truthy!
A quotation I saw, source unfortunately unknown:
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

You win, Tiger
Berserk, Vol. 1 by Kentaro MiuraMy review
rating: 2 of 5 stars
Wow. They aren't kidding about the blood, are they? A horrifically violent beginning to what I'm told is a horrifically violent series. A friend recommended this to me, at greath length, going to the extent of sending me his copy of the first volume to get me started on it, and all I can say is I wish I hadn't read it while I was eating.
The protagonist, Guts, looks like semi-standard manga fare. Musclebound with a lot of decorative scarring, left arm made of metal, and a sword that looks like it used to belong to a spiky-haired, blond amnesiac. The first page is a quasi-graphic shot of Guts having sex with a woman...who turns into a monster and tries to eat him, only to have her head blown apart by the shotgun/arm shoved in its mouth.
Perfect for lovers of extreme gore, I can see the barest glimmer of a decent plot hiding under the layers of blood and viscera, so odds are I'll read more of the series in order to uncover it. The bonus here is that the art is B&W, so the graphic dismemberment, etc., is marginally toned down.

Remember what I said about the weirdness of the Japanese?
Do you?
Well, the same game raised the bar on originality, although I don't have quite the same quality picture of this one. I did find a screenshot in Japanese, though. With plenty of space for a worksafe barrier.
I had heard about it previously, by the way, but I still lawled mightily. It's damn funny.

The Japanese are weird
And scary.
This is fair warning for a picture of dubious worksafe-edness.
Last chance.
I present to you...Incubus.

Man, am I playing a weird game.
