I'm furry?

From Kagerou, a webcomic I recently discovered. Don't let the primary colors fool you, it's seriously messed up. Hee hee!

There is hope

Alaska Women Reject Palin

Highlights:

The rally was organized by a small group of women, talking over coffee. It made me wonder what other things have started with small groups of women talking over coffee. It’s probably an impressive list.

I’d been disappointed before by the turnout at other rallies. Basically, in Anchorage, if you can get 25 people to show up at an event, it’s a success.

Never, have I seen anything like it in my 17 and a half years living in Anchorage. The organizers had someone walk the rally with a counter, and they clicked off well over 1400 people (not including the 90 counter-demonstrators).

The aether carries the information, the aether is information. You are one of the few who know the ins and outs of Aether Terminals. You can access information across the Aethersphere, tapping into the Aetherpipes of anyone you want and stealing the information stored in their datatanks. Some think of you as a myth, a legend created to scare people. You are no myth or legend, you are quite real and you are currently reading the Queen’s AetherMissives.

Guess what?

Some time ago, I commented on Terry Pratchett's book, The Hogfather, being made into a miniseries. Well, the other night, I finally got around to watching it. It was actually really, really good! The cast was excellent, the locations were fantastic, and while a lot of the small details got dropped (sadly, there was no cheerful fairy) the overall story was beautifully intact. It even had the Death of Rats! What more could I ask?

Because if I'm mocking one Jack...

I need to mock the other one.

Yes, it's another spoof on Jack Chick's Dark Dungeons tract, but this one's different. And it's displayed alongside the original, so you can get the full flavor of Chick's brand of batshit!

The only Uwe Boll movie I'd like to watch

Too bad it's not real.

The line about him being the only genius on filmmaking? That's real. I don't remember the exact line enough to know if it's paraphrased or a direct quote, but Boll really did say that.

Dammit, Tiger!

Because of that link you posted awhile back I finally found a place to watch Baccano! Holy shit, that's the funniest, bloodiest, most messed up thing I've ever seen. I freakin' loved it.

Isaac and Miria cracked me the hell up, Ladd and Lua are seriously FUBAR, Firo's cute as hell, and damn do I love me some Jacuzzi, no matter how ridiculous his name may be. And the Gandor brothers, all four of them. And Chane liek woah.

For those with the faintest clue of what I'm talking about, the music is reminiscent of Cowboy Bebop, the time edits are worthy of Tarantino at his Pulp Fictioniest, the WTF-meter is cranked up well past Paranoia Agent, and the contrast between slapstick silliness and horrific bloodletting is beyond compare. There's only thirteen episodes, and you have to watch them all to actually understand what the hell happened, but they're worth it. Seriously awesome shit here, people. Try it.

I need to start watching Torchwood

This looks fun as hell. And James Marsters (Spike of Buffy/Angel) is always nice to look at. Especially in this kind of scene.

(Psst! HV! Is this better? :D)

Wii would like to... pole dance?

I shit you not.

Although it does sound like hilarious fun for our annual drunkfest, I get a little squicked at the notion of twelve-year-olds getting even sluttier than they're already encouraged to be.

Also, seconding Hadrian, blogger's being a bitch today.

As promised

I Don't Need Your Civil War

In which the Punisher is upset because they might take away his right to cuss, Tony Stark can't stop thinking about sex, and you get fantastic lines like this:
Wow. I'm dying and all I can think about is Rutger Hauer's last speech in Blade Runner. Damn, was I a nerd...

Marvel's Civil War, parodied for your lulz.

An addendum

A petition to stop Uwe Boll from committing more films only needs about 800,000 more signatures.

Distubingly accurate

You Are a Caramel Crunch Donut

You're a complex creature, and you're guilty of complicating things for fun.

You've been known to sit around pondering the meaning of life...

Or at times, pondering the meaning of your doughnut.

To frost or not to frost? To fill or not to fill? These are your eternal questions.

Unbelievable

No, seriously, read the story. It's short and sweet.

Damn you, Briana!

1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pgs.)
2. Open the book to page 123
3. Find the fifth sentence
4. Post the next three sentences

Within arm's reach is Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum. Not sure why it's here; it looks like a donation someone was checking up on and left behind.

Anna knows that this skittishness stems from the fact that her dress is pink, as garish a color as the frosting on the petits fours delivered to the camp for the SS Comradeship Evenings. She is also hugely pregnant, a giant ripe strawberry in satin and tulle.

Edging behind the doorway, Anna peers into the church.

Hey, Hadrian!

Interpret some law for me, will you?

Section 10. No state shall enter into any treaty, alliance, or confederation; grant letters of marque and reprisal; coin money; emit bills of credit; make anything but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts; pass any bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law impairing the obligation of contracts, or grant any title of nobility.

If I'm correctly extrapolating, wouldn't that mean our current monetary system is unconstitutional? I realize that this is about state rights but we're not using a gold standard, so any money owed to or paid by a state is illegal, no?

I wouldn't recommend a gold standard, no matter what, but if I am reading that right (and freely confess that I might not be) shouldn't there be an amendment?

Does this really sound like me? Eerily so?

Since reading here is easier than clicking elsewhere:

Your Existing Situation
Dissatisfied. The need to escape continued involvement with her present circumstances makes it imperative for her to find some solution.

Your Stress Sources
Delights in the tasteful, the gracious, and the sensitive, but maintains her attitude of critical appraisal and refuses to be swept off her feet unless genuineness and integrity can be absolutely vouched for. Therefore keeps a strict and watchful control on her emotional relationships as she must know exactly where she stands. Demands complete sincerity as a protection against her own tendency to be too trusting.

Your Restrained Characteristics
Wants to broaden her fields of activity and insists that her hopes and ideas are realistic. Distressed by the fear that she may be prevented from doing what she wants; needs both peaceful conditions and quiet reassurance to restore her confidence.

Able to achieve satisfaction through sexual activity but restless and inclined to be emotionally withdrawn, which prevents her from becoming deeply involved.

Your Desired Objective
Seeks the determination and elasticity of will necessary to establish herself and to make herself independent despite the difficulties of her situation. Wants to overcome opposition and achieve recognition.

Your Actual Problem
Works to strengthen her position and bolster her self-esteem by examining her own accomplishments (and those of others) with critical appraisal and scientific discrimination. Insists on having things clear-cut and unequivocal.
