The Powers That Be are concerned with declining morale. Apparently the solution to that is to decree that you are not allowed to do anything to your account through a staff computer, I guess because someone, somewhere, might be abusing the privilege. Also, anytime you leave your computer, you need to log yourself off of it, and log back in when you return. Which means that when there's a long line it's more important to further delay that line by logging yourself onto the torturously slow program than to, say, provide good customer service and actually help people in a timely manner.
I can't really go into the details of what all makes me frothingly furious about this without violating the laws against (help me out Hadrian, is it libel or slander?)ing my workplace in a public, online forum. Don't get me started on that, either.
Well, Friday I'll be lunching with a new employee of a different system. . . perhaps she'll know of an opening.

Slander is speech, libel is writing. And there is no law against bad mouthing your employer, but they can fire you for it. To the best of my knowledge-- and I am not qualified to really say.
